Event photography and videography at The Cutaway, Barangaroo
The Cutaway is one of the most architecturally extraordinary event spaces in Sydney. Carved beneath the sandstone headland of Barangaroo Reserve, it is a 10,000 square metre subterranean hall with a 14-metre-high exposed sandstone cliff wall running the length of the main space. Two mezzanine levels look down over the hall, and the entire effect is part geological wonder, part industrial precision. The NSW Government invested more than 100 million dollars in the transformation, and the result is immediately impressive at scale. For corporate event photography and videography, the sandstone cliff wall is an entirely unique interior backdrop in Sydney. Its raw geological texture at architectural height takes production lighting exceptionally well and creates a dramatically different visual context from any other venue in the city. The high ceilings accommodate complex rigging for large brand activations, concerts, galas, and exhibitions, with total capacity up to 3,000 people. ICC Sydney took over management of The Cutaway from April 2026, with bookings for events opening from August 2026. Step-free access from Barangaroo Metro makes it straightforward for all guests.
